Anglia Ruskin University is amongst the most prestigious universities located in East Anglia, United Kingdom. The origins of the university can be traced back to the year 1858 when John Ruskin founded the Cambridge School of Art. With time, the Essex Institute of Higher Education merged with Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology to form Anglia Polytechnic. In 1992, it was named as Anglia Polytechnic University, and in 2005, it was renamed as Anglia Ruskin University. Keeping in mind the overall development of the university, over a period of time, it invested more than £115 million on its campuses.
Based in East Anglia, the university has four campuses and partner institutes in the country as well as in international locations. University’s four campuses are located in Chelmsford, Cambridge, Peterborough, and London. Its flagship Cambridge campus is home to high-tech clinical skills labs, which also include mock hospital areas. Initially based in the city center, the Chelmsford campus moved to a new location in the year 1992. One of the main highlights of this riverside campus is the School of Medicine, which was set up in 2018 and is the foremost such school in Essex. The Chelmsford campus also boasts of its Queen’s building, which was opened by none other than the Queen herself.
