The University of South Wales, formerly known as the University of Glamorgan, was established in the year 2013. The origin of this public university can be traced back to 1841, with the set up of the Newport Institute. The institute aimed at providing education to tradesman and workers. In 2014, the Privy Council granted it the title of University of Wales. This university emerged after the coalition of the University of Wales, and the University of Glamorgan in 2013. This university now offers over 500 courses to students.
